I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where I graduated from St. Francis High School in 1985. I studied architecture at Washington State University for two years and then I transferred to San Diego State University to study graphic design and play varsity volleyball. I graduated from SDSU with a degree in graphic design.

After I graduated from college, I moved to Portland, Oregon to work for The Oswego Company, a company specializing in product illustration for ad kits. I was hired as an illustrator trainee, and within six months, I was promoted to lead illustrator. As lead illustrator, I was responsible for quality control, scheduling, estimating, and training for the Illustration Department.

After three years at The Oswego Company, I was recruited by a small startup called Synaptix, a subsidiary of Wy'East in Portland. I worked as a graphic designer and trained in Alias Power Animator software on an SGI Onyx computer.

I moved to Bend, Oregon in 1998 where I worked as a designer and prepress technician for Oregon Color Press, a local printer. As well as my design duties, I learned to output film, operate a drum scanner, strip film, burn plates, and feed a press.

I left Oregon Color Press to freelance fulltime. I worked for several local clients and for The Mosaic Company, a training consulting company, located in Renton, Washington. I was hired as a fulltime graphic designer at The Mosaic Company in 2000. At The Mosaic Company, I design and develop a wide variety of graphics, illustrations, and Flash animations for web-based training and print collateral.

I moved to Arlington, Virginia, in 2005, and worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for Orbital Sciences and as Art Director for the Learning Team in the Organizational Change division at Booz Allen Hamilton, an international consulting firm.

My wife, Jackie, and I moved to Dillon, Montana, to work as Training and Development Specialist for Great Harvest Bread Company in their home office. We train new franchisees and mentor them through the process of opening their new bakeries.

In addition to graphic design and baking, I have three passions: pottery, flyfishing, and hiking. I have been an amateur potter for over fifteen years. Click here to see some of my work.
